Ikea and Teklan team up on a set of Bluetooth speakers you’ll want to show off

Have you ever seen a range of Bluetooth speakers as colourful as this?

Ikea sells over a billion of its delicious meatballs every year, but next time you enter its labyrinthine clutches you might find yourself equally tempted by something from its new Ikea Teklan range of Bluetooth speakers.

Let’s start with the Solskydd, which is the trio of round speakers you see in the picture above. It comes in three sizes: 8in, 11in and 18in, with the two larger models requiring mains power and the smallest housing a battery that lasts up to 25 hours between charges. They can all be wall mounted, but the smaller two also come with stands.

They increase in oomph as the size goes up, so the 8in one has a 2.5in driver that’s capable of hitting 80.5dB; the 11in one has a 1in tweeter and a 4in woofer that go to 83.6dB; and the 18in model adds a second 4in woofer meaning it can reach 93.6dB.

If you’d prefer something that can multitask there’s also the new Kulglass that doubles as a table lamp and comes in either red or green, with the speaker built into the base combining a 3.5in woofer with a 1in tweeter.

The whole lot supports Spotify Tap, so you can easily transfer tunes from your phone without missing a beat. You can connect up to 100 of them together, but if that feels like overkill you can also set two of them up in stereo.

Created in partnership with Swedish (obviously) designer Tekla Evelina Severin, the range also includes a special spotty version of the globe-shaped Fado lamp.

There’s no pricing or specific availability info yet, but they’ll start appearing in Ikea stores this month.
