Asus unveils quad-core 10.1in Transformer Prime tablet

A tablet with the fabled Nvidia Tegra 3 Kal-El quad-core, and it’s only 8.3mm thin – where do we sign up?

Asus is storming the tablet scene with sexy keyboard armed treats and its just unveiled the big guns – the 10.1in Transformer Prime. The 8.3mm thin slate will be running the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core Kal-El processor and sporting USB and mini-HDMI ports.

The quad-core doesn't just mean power but considerably better battery life, which is exactly what tablets need. The Transformer Prime – a bit of an unfortunate name, since Google just throws up links to the 1980s cartoon – will be very likely packing Ice Cream Sandwich, too.

The above picture is all we’ve seen so far and that comes from the Asus teaser video released this week, yet Asus is hinting at a release as soon as pre-Christmas after its official announcement on November 9. Does Santa have a price limit for prezzies?
