Sony is set to debut its next-generation noise-cancelling earbuds next week. Judging by a teaser clip, the WF-1000XM6 buds will be unveiled on February 12.

The teaser posted on YouTube promises a reveal next Thursday at 8:00 pacific time. That’s 4:00pm UK time. We can’t be absolutely certain. They might not be the WF-1000XM6, but the timing lines up given the recent speculation and mounting leaks. We can’t glean an awful lot from the teaser, which shows what appears to be an open earbuds case with the buds poking out.

The Walkman Blog recently predicted the February 12 launch date, as well as a suggested retail price of $330. Recent speculation from has also suggested Sony is planning a new Sandpink hue to accompany the existing black and silver shades for the current and previous generations.

It’s unclear right now what technical upgrades Sony is bringing to the table to justify the upgrade, but considering the new release is three years in the making we’re expecting big things from this release. The XM series has long been considered a gold standard for noise cancelling earbuds. Our reviewer gave them a five-star review for their exceptional ANC abilities, super sound quality and wonderfully comfortable fit.

He concluded: “Improves on what were already some of the best noise-cancelling in-ears around, with even better ANC, a more comfortable fit and stellar audio. They’re pricey, but the WF-1000XM5 are absolutely worth it.”

We’ll have the full lowdown when Sony makes the latest generation official on February 12.
