Touchscreen GP2X F-200 imminent

My old GP2X has served me well over the last year or so, mostly employed as a Commodore 64 and Amiga emulator, mostly playing Impossible Mission and Winter Games, occassionally flicking through graphic novels, and even more occassionally for watching videos and listening to music. Now the alternative handheld has had an upgrade in the form of the GP2X F-200. It’s changed from black to white, had its control nubbin switched for a D-pad and most importantly, gained a touchscreen – it’s all good.

The colour makes it cooler, the D-pad will lead to more precise control over the nubbin (which was never very accurate), and (fingers crossed) the touchscreen and stylus will allow it to emulate keyboards properly. The new F-200 is fully backwards compatible. You won’t find many original games made for the GP2X, but there are plenty of applications, including emulators for just about every retro machine you can think of. If you’re not afraid of a bit of tinkering under the bonnet, the GP2X is a great little toy, and the F-200 should bring it right up to date. You can order one now for a very reasonable £119.99.
