Canon’s new PowerShot SX260 HS and SX240 HS compacts have 20x optical zoom

Too scared of the mosh pit but want decent snaps from the back of the crowd? Try these snappers on for size

Canon’s new PowerShot SX260 HS and SX240 HS compacts both pack in an impressive 20x optical zoom, a 25mm wide-angle lens and a 12.1MP CMOS sensor in addition to 3in touchscreens, image stabilisation technology and full HD video recording.

They’ll also arrive sporting a fancy Face ID feature which can recognise up to 12 stored faces and ages, automatically choosing the best settings for the job at hand. The Movie Digest feature which records the last four seconds of action prior to each snap before editing them in to one movie is also a nice bonus.

The PowerShot SX260 HS also features bult-in GPS capability and will set you back £330, while the PowerShot SX240 will cost £300. Both models will be available from March in silver, black and red.
