Asus reveals Eee Pad Transformer Prime HD

Asus' Transformer Prime isn't even out in the UK yet and it's already been superseded by a newer, more high-end model that comes fully loaded with a full 1080p HD display.
While speculation pointed to a CES unveiling of a 7in version of the Transformer Prime – dubbed the Transformer Mini – Asus has been showing off a brand new high-def version of its Tegra 3, quad-core toting hybrid tab, complete with a 10.1in WUXGA full HD 1920 x 1080 screen.

Rather than come complete with a brand new set of specs, the TF700T – as it is officially known - is identical to the current Transformer Prime in the specs department. Although it will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich when it's out some time in April. Need a spec refresher? Check out our Transformer Prime review.
It's designed for those who want a much crisper viewing experience and want to consume full HD content on the move. So, it's essentially just a higher end option for those who like their gadgets to come with a side serving of premium.

A noticeable cosmetic change to the back panel apparently means enhanced performance for WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.
And what about a 7in version? It turns out Asus never planned to launch a dinky version of its powerful netbook killer. Speculation started when Asus' database was hacked and images of the MemMo 370T – a 7in Android tab that won't be launching in the UK – were found. All it took was a shrunken image of the 10in keyboard dock and thus, a rumour was born, spreading across the web like wildfire. Bad news for those holding out.

Is the WiFi reception so bad on the metal clad Transformer Prime that I should wait for this? I could be twiddling my thumbs till the autumn.

I returned my prime today. The reception is ok but the quality is so bad it was half the speed of my tf101. You did not notice too much as the prime has more power. However when bt was turned on the signal got even worse. Gps reception was non existent. Ics was good but did not iron out enough of the flaws. I am sad but will wait to see what other quad core goodness appears over the next few months

Was really sad to find this excellent tablet had such poor wifi and no Gps that I returned it as soon as I realised .
What made it more frustrating was the fact that Asus were not going to do anything about it.
I take it the newer model has been tested and the bugs ironed out.Sadly as there was no indication that a new model was on the horizon,I finally bought an I pad 3, which I now find also has problems with battery charging, and poor GPS as well if not on a network.
My HTC sensation phone works as well as both of them apart from the fact that the Vodafone coverage is poor so really seem to be unlucky with tech at the moment as I am told this isnt fixable either and one thing a phone should do is talk to people!
