News flash! Anti-paparazzi handbag

13 Jul 2009

New York designer Adam Harvey has invented an anti-pap handbag to foil tabloid door-steppers. The bag incorporates a miniature flashgun that's set to 'slave' mode: whenever it detects a flash, it fires itself, washing out the original photo.

The bag, which will get a limited release in early 2010, is expected to be snapped up by celebs fed up with being captured at their most tired and emotional.

However, while some paparazzi are criticising the device, others are claiming that a single slave flash won't be fast enough to keep up with the barrage of high-speed flashes experienced by an A-lister.

Stuff can't help wondering how long it is before speeding motorists pick up on the anti-pap handbag to foil speed cameras.

    'Safety' cameras - hmmmm....

Does anyone know what the tech is based on?? A simple DIY kit involving a cheapo camera flashgun, gaffer tape & sensor should be possible. How does a 'slave' gun work? I'm sure it ain't rocket science....
