Would your face prefer these redesigned Google Glass renders?

We're as excited for Google Glass as any self-respecting gadgeteer, but our resident fashionistas do have a few niggling reservations about donning the smart specs in public.

My Voucher Codes appears to share our reservations – they've commissioned designer Nickolay Lamm (who created these iWatch renders) to give Google's tech-infused glasses a bit of a makeover.

Lamm's first concept shifts the hardware brains around, behind the wearer's head – party in the front, business at the back. The front looks a lot cleaner and you don't even have to have two lenses as balance will no longer be an issue. We like the single-ear design but the double-ear concept above might be a little more stable while still keeping the front clean.

The concept also addresses Google Glass's privacy issues by including a green LED which automatically lights up when you're snapping a pic or recording video. A nice little touch to soothe the concerns of Orwellian complainers.

The second render was inspired by rumours that Google is in talks with Warby Parker – an American eyewear company – to produce actual glasses with built-in Google tech. The components in this design are spread throughout the frame of the glasses.

While it's probably not (yet) possible for Google to fit all the components of Project Glass into the frames shown in these renders, we're sure that second and third gen iterations of Google's specs can be shrunk down enough to achieve a less obtrusive look.

And who knows, perhaps one day Glass will be built into 'active contact lenses', a concept outlined in a patent filed by Google co-founder Sergey Brin.
