Sony CyberShot DSC–TX200V brings super-slim camera superpowers

Great things really do come in small packages as Sony has proved with its new CyberShot DSC–TX200V – the ultra-thin point-and-shoot compact camera that lands alongside the new DSC–WX50 and WX70. The flagship snapper sports the Sony's homegrown Exmor R CMOS sensor to dazzle us with its 18.2MP power alongside a 26mm 5x optical zoom lens, 1080p/60fps video and nippy shot speeds.

Sony’s says its new BIONZ processor means snaps are captured with extremely low noise even in low light. And the TX200V does it at a ridiculously snappy 0.13 seconds in daylight and 0.25 seconds in low-light. The TX even manages to stay waterproof under 16ft of the wet stuff and can brave temperatures as low as –10 degrees Celsius.

If the £320 price tag seems a little steep, there are other options, namely the DSC–WX–70 and DSC–WX50. Both have slightly smaller 16.2MP sensors with 25mm lenses that manage shoot interlaced full-def video (as opposed to the TX200V's better progressive shooting). The WX50 has a 2.7in display compared with the WX70's 3in screen and they'll be chalked up for £130 and £150 respectively when they ship in March.
