Microsoft has been busy sprucing up its My Xbox Live mobile app – and it’ll now allow you to use an iOS device to remotely play, pause, fast forward and rewind music and video, as well as search for new entertainment content.

The iOS edition of the app was today updated to version 1.5, which adds the above as well as “improvements to stability”. As with older versions, you can still use it to send Xbox Live messages, browse your friends’ profiles and compared achievements. You can download it free-of-charge from the iTunes App Store.

My Xbox Live also dropped onto Android for the first time today, although this version is sadly a few steps behind its iOS counterpart: it’s limited to messaging, achievement tracking and profile editing. If you have an Android 2.2 or above device with at least a WVGA resolution, you can download it (again, for free) from the Google Play store.
