iPhone 4S hits one million pre-orders in first 24 hours

10 Oct 2011

We’ve already seen reports of the iPhone 4S racking up 200,000 pre-orders from a single US carrier and now Apple has announced that the overall number of pre-orders for the iPhone 4S has topped a mighty one million units in a single day.

Apple's iPhone 4 (in itself no slouch), managed a comparatively less impressive 600,000 pre-orders in the same time period.

These latest figures suggest that people care more about what’s under the bonnet as opposed to the all-too-familiar design, unless of course they’re mostly 3GS owners who just can't wait for their shiny new upgrade.

Either way it’s impressive stuff and good news for Apple in a week marred by the sad loss of the company's co-founder, Steve Jobs.
