It’s not even the end of January and we’ve already seen an influx of new smartphones, wearable devices and what not get revealed. And that wave doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon – here’s the top news that made headlines this week.
The Xiaomi Note and the Note Pro are premium devices
Gone are the days where Xiaomi was viewed as a company that makes cheap mobile products. With the release of the new Xiaomi Note and the Xiaomi Note pro, the vendor is making its mark in the industry as a player that can also produce higher-end, spec-filled smartphones.
Oppo reveals its hardy Oppo R1C smartphone
The rumours of the Oppo R1C smartphone were pretty spot on – just days ago, the company made official the device, complete with the speculated sapphire crystal glass rear and all (meaning it will be able to withstand some form of torture). It’s due in China on 14 January, so if it is coming to our shores, it won’t be too long from then.
Samsung might be buying BlackBerry
Is it or is it not? That’s the question that still remains unanswered in the debate of if Samsung’s officially taking over BlackBerry. Both companies have refuted rumours by denying the alleged reports but Reuters affirms it’s spoken to a “source familiar with the process and has seen documents” pertaining to it.
There might be a new MacBook Air coming
Apple might be working overtime on its products; Leaks are pointing towards the launch of a new MacBook Air, all fitted up with a retina display and in a 12in model. And that’s not it – it’s also said to house a more efficient Broadwell Core M processor, and strip away most of its ports and connections.
Vertu’s got a new luxury line-up
In the world of smartphones, price is never an issue for some (especially of they come fitted with the fanciest of materials). This new diamond collection has three of its smartphones in the range, all (you guessed it) sporting dazzling diamonds, white gold detailing, and alligator skin. Talk about total lavishness.
