Xiaomi made a surprise announcement of not one but two new products alongside its Mi Note 2.
Besides its latest flagship, the company unveiled a fancy new bezel-less concept phone as well as a super affordable VR headset.
Xiaomi's been pretty smart at hiding its announcement of a phone it says is going to be better than the iPhone, but cheaper.
It will have a Snapdragon 821 processor with a base configuration of 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, a 4400mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0, a massive 6.4in screen with a 91.3 per cent screen-to-body-ration: nearly bezelless and will have a ceramic body as well as a 16MP rear camera with PDAF.
Pricing wise, it will cost RMB3499 (S$720) and there will be a more expensive edition, the Xiaomi Mix Pro with an 18 karat gold rim as well as 6GB RAM and 256GB of storage. Pricing for the Mix Pro is yet to be announced.
As for the new Mi VR headset, its RMB199 (S$40) pricing is very attractive, with a 9-axis motion controller an a less than 16ms latency. Unfortunately the headset works only with the Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus as well as, of course, the Mi Note 2.
Looks like Xiaomi has some pretty impressive offerings this time around and will heat up the competition in the generally very crowded smartphone space.
