No one does sci-fi like the Wachowski siblings. Have you not seen The Matrix?
Well, that’s about it. After The Matrix, the Wachowskis continued with a few more spectacular movies like Speed Racer and Cloud Atlas under their belt. But none have impressed the sci-fi community like the first movie in The Matrix trilogy.
But hopes are running high for their latest project, Jupiter Ascending. The movie centres around Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis from That '70s Show) as a lowly janitor who cleans toilets, only to be told that she was born on a night when the stars pointed to an extraordinary event. In turn, her genetic makeup resembles the Queen of the Universe, marking her as the universe’s next leader.
Not exactly Cinderella material, but you can say the Evil Queen’s at work. The current Queen of the Universe sends Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically-engineered ex-military hunter who’s half-man, half-wolf hybrid, to assassinate Jupiter. Fortunately, no vampires that sparkle under daylight have been mentioned.
The trailer (below) revealed stunning visuals that are true to the Wachowski’s signature. We also spotted Sean Bean (Ned Stark in Game of Thrones), who plays a Han Solo-type character named Sting. If you aren’t aware, the poor guy dies in almost every movie. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the Wachowskis won’t whack his character when the movie is released in July 2014.
