After a recent leak of a Xiaomi drone app as well as what looks like patents for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), Xiaomi has released a teaser for what could be the upcoming Mi drone.
Right after announcing its new Mi Box at Google I/O, Xiaomi looks as though it has more to come by end May. The company generally doesn't release teasers for devices unless it's coming really soon.
Little is known about the specs of the device besides it's likely a drone, likely to be a top-tier device as it has a built-in camera said to support 4K recording, has a drone app all prepped and waiting and since the teaser was up in China first, expect it to be launched there first.
Most Xiaomi fans will be keen on knowing how competitively priced Xiaomi will make the drone but with 4K video recording, it's unlikely to be super-cheap. Still, Xiaomi does manage to keep within affordable limits so perhaps this is a drone worth saving up for?
We'll let you know the expected pricing once it goes official.
UPDATE: Hugo Barra's just Tweeted confirmation that the drone will officially launch online this 25 May 9.30 IST/9AM PST. A teaser video has also surfaced online, according to The Verge who also says the pricing might come to about US$600 ($828).
