It’s all about having the best when it comes to technology, and we’re not just talking about having the best products. With 4K TVs as well as tablets and smartphones with HD screens, there’s pressure on ISPs to deliver faster broadband speeds to cater to them.
One such ISP has now stepped up to the plate, and its name is ViewQwest. It’s announced the launch of its 2Gbps fibre broadband offering, that will make it the first in the world outside of Japan to offer the fastest residential Internet connectivity. Other ISPs, such as SingTel, M1, and MyRepublic currently offer fibre plans capped at 1Gbps.
“Our customers are always connected and are active users of the Internet. We know they demand the fastest Internet speeds and reliability,” ViewQwest CEO, Vignesa Moorthy, said when speaking about the capability to offer 2Gbps fibre broadband.
However, the service will first be undergoing trials with a limited group of ViewQwest’s current customer base from now until the end of this year before it becomes commercially available sometime during the first quarter of 2015. It’s pricing too, is yet to be determined.
For the curious, ViewQwest will showcase the technology at SITEX 2014, that will run between 27 and 30 November, so if it’s sparked your interest, head down to the Singapore Expo and have a try of it first-hand.
In addition to launching its high-speed fibre broadband, the company’s also announced the streamlining of its existing ViewQwest Fibernet broadband bundles into two price plans (available from today) – the Freedom VPN 600Mbps Bundle priced at S$65 per month, and the Freedom VPN 1000Mbps Bundle at S$89.95 a month.
Customers currently on the 300Mbps and 500Mbps plans will be automatically upgraded to the 600Mbps and 1000Mbps plans respectively, and ViewQwest expects these transitions to be made by the end of this year.
As previously mentioned, the ViewQwest 2Gbps Fibernet Bundle starts from S$89.95 per month. The high-speed Internet access plan will come with the following freebies:
- 3 Months Free Freedom VPN
- Free ViewQwest TV
- Free modem/ router rental
- Optional OneVoice residential phone line
If you're still on the 1Gbps plan, here's the good news - you can re-contract to the 2Gbps plan. At no charge. True story.
Also, if you're signing up for the ViewQwest plan during IT Show 2015, more freebies await, which include:
- Free Amazon Fire HD 7 tablet (8GB), or
- Free ASUS RT-AC56S router, or
- Xbox One with Kinect Special Edition Halo: The Master Chief Collection Bundle, with a top-up of S$599
