Can’t decide if you should get an iPad Air 2 or an iPad mini 3? And not sure which telco to run with? This might help you – we’ve put together the costing of the devices with each of the telcos so you can do the math and see which deal suits your needs best.
SingTel is offering the iPad Air 2 with Wi-Fi + Cellular on two new 4G Mobile Broadband data plans – 4G Mobile BroadBand 5GB and 4G Mobile Broadband 10GB. The iPad Air 2 16GB will cost you S$229 on the 4G Mobile BroadBand 5GB plan, which you can get for S$29.90 a month on a two-year contract. As for the 4G Mobile Broadband 10GB plan, the device will cost you S$29, while the monthly subscription will cost you S$49.90.
If you’re after the 64GB version, it will cost S$339 on the 4G Mobile BroadBand 5GB plan and S$139 on the 4G Mobile Broadband 10GB plan, while the 128GB model will cost S$469 and S$269 respectively.
In addition to the 4G data bundles, you’ll also enjoy unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi usage until 31 July 2015. Subsequently, all 4G Mobile Broadband plans will come with 2GB of Wi-Fi data allowance.
SingTel is also the first telco in Singapore to offer the new iPad Air 2 with a monthly tablet top-up payment plan of $15 per month in addition to the monthly subscription rate.
As for StarHub, the iPad Air 2 is available on its iPad MaxMobile Elite 6GB and iPad MaxMobile Elite 11GB plans.
If you’re after the 6GB 4G LTE plan, it will cost you S$30 a month, while the 11GB plan sits at S$45 a month. The iPad Air 2 16GB model will cost you S$579 or S$429 respectively. You’ve also got a choice of paying $0 upfront for the tablet through 12 months at S$48.25 per month (for the 6GB plan) or S$35.75 per month (for the 11GB plan).
Want the 64GB model? Be prepared to fork out S$689 on the iPad MaxMobile Elite 6GB plan (which you can also get for $0 upfront if you pay S$57.42 with a 12-month installment. Sign up for the 11GB and you'll only need to pay S$529 for the 64GB iPad Air 2 (or pay $0 upfront with a 12-month installment plan at S$44.08 a month).
The 128GB version will set you back S$799 on the iPad MaxMobile Elite 6GB plan and S$639 on the iPad MaxMobile Elite 11GB plan. If you want to pay $0 upfront with a 12-month installment, it will cost you S$66.58 and S$53.25 a month respectively in addition to the price of the data bundles.
M1 too has revealed pricing details for the iPad Air 2. It’s available on the iPad Lite and iPad Max data plans, which cost S$30 and S$48 and comes with 5GB of data and 10GB of data respectively. Re-contracting customers will get an additional 1GB of data for free.
As for the prices of the iPad Air 2 on these plans, the 16GB model costs $539, 64GB version costs S$649, while the 128GB model costs S$759 on the iPad Lite plan. On the other hand, the 16GB model costs S$399, 64GB costs S$499, and 128GB costs S$609 on the iPad Max plan.
Buying it without a price plan
If signing a deal with the telcos isn’t your cup of tea, you can also get the device from the Apple Store.
But if you'd like to cop a feel of the thin iPad Air 2, units are on display at Apple Premium Resellers such as EpiCentre and Nubox. Once you're satisfied with what you see and feel, you can buy it straight off the shelves, starting from S$688 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only model.
