Sign up now to beta test Samsung Pay in Singapore

It's time to put your Samsung Galaxy smartphone to better use

A cashless future is about to descend upon us and the only thing we'll ever need to carry around with us is our mobile payment-enabled smartphones.

At the moment, only Apple Pay is official in Singapore, and only available to American Express card holders. But if this beta test programme is any indication, Samsung Pay is hot on its heels.

It should be worth noting that the biggest difference between Samsung Pay and Apple Pay is that the former works with MST (magnetic secure transmission) as well as NFC, which should theoretically mean that it'd be more widely accepted as the tech is already in place on older credit card terminals.

Of course, you’ll need to have either the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S7, and Galaxy S7 Edge to make Samsung Pay work for you.

If you do, just head over to Samsung’s site to register to be one of the first Samsung Pay beta testers.

All you have to do is enter information like your Samsung smartphone type and your credit card or debit card details. If you’re chosen, Samsung will get in touch with you to lead the rest of us into the cashless future.

Just remember to keep an eye on your bank balance.
