You’d think back in the bastketball-crazy mid-90s, a game with NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal would do pretty decently.
If it were a basketball game, that is. But for reasons beyond us, someone chose to put the Shaq Attack in an ill-conceived fighting outfit called Shaq Fu, and someone else wants to do it again. Good lord.
There's no way around it, Shaq Fu is an abomination that should never have been made. Why? The controls didn’t work, it had a crap storyline, and it was just downright lame. In fact, it’s been consistently ranked as one of the worst games ever, but now... someone wants to bring it back.
Called Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn, you shouldn’t be surprised that Shaquille O’Neal himself is attached to the project. The game's developer, Big Deez, is promising that it'll be better than the original, or as they put it, “We won’t Fu it up this time”. We can only hope.
There’s already a teaser trailer of the game, and the project, which is being crowd-funded on Indiegogo, has already gotten US$69,000 worth of pledges so far. Money, it seems, grows on trees. We’d like to give the game the benefit of the doubt, but we’re still reeling from the pyschological damage that came from playing the original.
We might have to send Arnie back in time to stop them from getting started in the first place.
