It’s no secret that Sammy fans have been rooting for Samsung to unveil a killer mobile device this year. And the company did not disappoint when it launched not one, but two units – the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge.
But when it comes to local launches, there’s somewhat of a wait before you can get your hands on it, regardless if you buy it outright or with a plan from one of the local telco companies in Singapore.
And now, there’s an indication of how long that wait might be. According to a listing on the IDA website in Singapore, Samsung Mobile Singapore might be bringing in both the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge as early as next month.
Listing after listing
The two models, SM G920 (representing the Galaxy S6) and SM G925I (representing the Galaxy S6 Edge) were spotted on the regulatory body’s Equipment Search List, indicating that Singapore might be one of the first 20 countries to get the devices from 10 April.
But if Samsung’s history is anything to go by, the Galaxy S6 will be out earlier than the S6 Edge. If you remember, the Galaxy Note 4 was out 11 October while the Galaxy Note Edge only made its way to our shores on 22 November.
If this staggered approach to market happens again, it might prove to be a smart move for Samsung in terms of strategy, but it would also mean we consumers will have to wait longer for whichever gets rolled-out later.
Samsung Mobile Singapore has neither addressed nor refuted this claim, so we’ll have to wait on an announcement for official details. But going by our gut feel, we think an imminent launch is due.
