Samsung hints at next flagship phone's processor

The next Galaxy S9 isn't here yet but it looks like its processor is ready

Samsung listed 36 products that won CES 2018 Innovation Awards. While most of the products were known (such as the Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Galaxy Note 8) there was a mention of a new flagship processor: the Exynos 9 Series 9810.

Ready to go

Calling it its latest flagship processors, Samsung described it thus in the release: " 3rd-generation custom CPU cores, upgraded GPU, and gigabit LTE modem with industry-first 6CA support. It is built on 2nd generation 10nm process technology."

With the naming and Samsung's reputation, then it's pretty obvious that Samsung will likely call the next line of flagships the '9' series so we can probably expect a Galaxy S9, S9 Plus as well as a Note 9.

Also mentioned was the Samsung Isocell Slim 2X7: a 24MP image sensor with a super-tiny 0.9μm pixel size (Samsung says it's the smallest in the industry right now). The smaller pixels means that the camera module can also be smaller, making even thinner phones a possibility.

It's all conjecture right now, though and anything can happen between now and the next flagship launches next year.
