Thought bezel-less phones were the only things to look forward to? Guess again.
Word is, LG and Samsung might finally be taking foldable smartphones from concept to reality as early as this year.
No bend-gate, just bendy phones
The Korea Herald reports that Samsung could be rolling out more than 100,000 units of fold-out devices in the third quarter.
What to expect? Samsung's new smartphone will have panels that face outward when folded, but when unfolded can be used as a 7in tablet. Though the phone is technically complete, the company could still decide not to unveil it this year.
LG is also expected to come out with foldable devices by the fourth quarter and is said to have even more advanced technology than Samsung. The company might not necessarily use it for just LG phones but perhaps for its clients that include Apple and Huawei.
As to who might be first to market the foldable phone, Samsung is likely to pip LG. Though the phone is technically complete, the company could still decide not to unveil it this year.
