Some deals sound too good to be true. This, however, is as real as it gets - MyRepublic’s 1Gbps broadband plan is now offered to the first 10,000 customers for as little as S$50 per month.
So that full HD movie you’re downloading into your Apple TV? Blink, and it’s ready to watch.
Fibre broadband plans have been competitively priced since it was introduced in Singapore. Amongst the big three telcos, M1 has been pricing its plans at insanely low prices, offering more value-for-money than SingTel and StarHub.
Instead of engaging in an all-out price war, other players such as MyRepublic and Viewqwest have been introducing non-contract plans and even integrated virtual private networks (VPN) with their services.
This current offer by MyRepublic makes it the most affordable plan for the best speeds. TechGoondu poses a plausible question about the practicality of a 1Gbps plan though, as there’s no control over the speeds and latency when you connect to websites not hosted in Singapore.
Still, there’s no harm in signing up for this great deal if your current broadband contract is nearing its end.
