A practical little gadget that is not (for once) a crowdfunded dream? Yes, it's called the Power Pen. It looks like a pen, writes like a pen, feels like a pen - that also houses a 700 mAh battery. So all right, maybe it doesn't house as much juice as the average power bank but sometimes you can't be carrying around a lot of things. Being at a wedding and hauling around a power bank looks so gauche, don't you think?
Small package, big on style
A handy feature of the pen is that it has both microUSB and Lightning ports, making it a great gift for anyone with pretty much any smartphone. Its 15.5cm length also makes it pretty pocketable and the black and gold colour variations make them easy to match with whatever you're wearing.
Besides being a pen and a mobile battery, the PowerPen can also work as a stylus for your device. It doesn't state what kind of stylus but we'll go out on a limb and state that it's likely the kind of stylus that will work on your iPad or Android tablet.
So you can consider this a neat way to write digitally and with real ink. No saying whether you can use standard ballpoint refills with the pen, though.
While this might not totally replace your power bank, it is handy in a pinch when your battery is nearly flat. Preorder one for just £24.99 ($51) and you might just get one by next month, once it's officially out on Jan 9.
