This is probably the first time you’ve heard of Phicomm. And it won’t be the last.
The Shanghai-based company just unveiled its flagship Android smartphone, the Phicomm P660, that costs just S$318. For that price, it comes with a hardware list that puts the term value-for-money to shame
Encased in a unibody aluminium-magnesium alloy and anti-scratch matte polycarbonate body, the P660 is equipped with a 5in full HD display. Weighing 110g and measuring 7.3mm. the phone is in the league of slim smartphones such as the Oppo R5.
The 4G/LTE-enabled phone also comes with dual-SIM capabilities, which is fast becoming a norm for mid-range devices such as this.
The P660’s imaging capabilities include a 13MP rear camera, along with a 5MP front camera that captures wide angle shots at 84 degrees. Its photography cred gets boosted with multi-face detection and high dynamic range (HDR) features.
Diving deeper, you’ll find a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. That, and 2GB of RAM, should keep the phone spiffy and fast. Phicomm integrated its customised Expect UI into the P660, which bears a striking resemblance to the simple UI of Android 4.4 Kit Kat. On the power front, a 2300mAh battery keeps things going.
Colour choices for the P660 are limited, with only black being available. But the good news is, it’s already on sale and you can buy it online from www.phicommasia.com from today.
