Narcissists listen up: Sony’s new smartphones have 13MP front-facing cameras

Bring on the supercharged selfies

Love them or hate them, selfies don’t look like they’re going anywhere anytime soon.

Sony’s decided to embrace them by releasing two new handsets the Xperia C5 Ultra and M5 – both of which have front-facing 13MP cameras.

The C5’s selfie cam has a front-facing flash to ensure that your face will be evenly lit and looking its best, no matter what dingy bar corner you might find yourself in.

It has a 13MP camera on the rear too, along with a gigantic 6in 1080p screen, 64-bit 1.7GHz processor and 2GB of RAM.

The M5 lacks a front-facing flash, but bumps up the megapixel count on its rear camera with a 21.5MP offering. Its 1080p screen is more manageable at 5 inches, while its 64-bit 2.0GHz processor and 3GB of RAM offer something a little nipper in the power department.

Android Lollipop 5.0, 4G data and a two-day battery life are on the cards for both handsets, while the M5 has the additional benefit of being waterproof.

There’s no pricing or availability information for either device, but they’ll hit shelves in selected markets form the middle of August.
