It’s very easy to get buried under the pile of news and reviews from MWC 2015. And with big names such as HTC and Samsung unveiling their most beefed up devices, some others might not get the limelight they deserve.
Acer is one such brand. It’s taken the wraps off a pair of Liquid Z smartphones, of which the Liquid Jade S stands at the top in terms of tier offering. This 5in unit with a 720p display isn’t the flashiest of smartphones, but its specs are promising.
Weighing just 110g and with a body 7.9mm thin, the smartphone is visually quite similar to Acer’s Liquid Jade S unit – but we’re not complaining because it’s not that bad a unit. It shows off a new Zero Air Gap technology on it, alongside a Gorilla Glass 3 layer for you butter-fingered people.
As for its specs, you can expect it to have a Quad-core CPU that comes with a Mediatek chipset, a microSD slot that can be expanded up to 32 GB, as well as the usual LTE, Bluetooth, and GPS capabilities.
If all you selfie loving people care about is the camera, you will be pleased to know that it boasts a 13MP back snapper with LED flash, along with a 5MP front-facing camera. We think that’s pretty impressive for an Acer smartphone.
It’s also said to come out of the box in running on Android 5.0. According to sources, you won’t have to wait too long before you can get your hands on it – the Acer Liquid Jade Z (in black and white versions) is expected to hit retail sometime later this month, costing a reasonable €199 (about S$300).
