MixRadio App now on Android and iOS

Yet another free streaming option

Remember when Microsoft sold MixRadio to messaging app Line? And remember that the music service was only exclusive on the Windows Phone? Well it is now also available for iOS and Android users.

MixRadio was originally developed by Nokia in 2007, and was then later bundled into the company’s sale to Microsoft. Last year the service was sold to Line because Microsoft already had Xbox Music.

So now, everybody can enjoy the free app that lets you discover new music everyday. The app learns your taste in music as you use it and provides you a more personalised experience. It has some 35 million tracks on its library that will be used to formulate a personalised playlist that you are then able to download and listen to offline.

Additionally, a co-marketing partnership was also announced with HTC which MixRadio will provide music updates to HTC’s BlinkFeed exclusively. Extra editorial content and news are currently in the works.

MixRadio’s expansion is timely as the trend but the big question is: how will it make money? Spotify hasn't figured it out yet, but maybe MixRadio will.
