LG’s drop dead gorgeous webOS TV leaks ahead of CES

Palm's (and latterly, HP's) doomed webOS phone and tablet OS looks set to resurrect itself in our living rooms this year with an interface that is, like, totally hot

Famous tech-outer @evleaks has posted a picture of LG’s previously rumoured webOS-powered TV. And it looks fantastic.

The defunct smartphone and tablet OS’ much loved (and much copied) card interface, as seen in old Stuff favourites such as the Palm Pre from 2009, appears to have had an angular facelift, showing off all open apps as well as a larger card displaying a live TV thumbnail.

Visible apps include YouTube, Facebook, Skype and Twitter, along with a web browser.

We’ve been awaiting a webOS-equipped TV since LG purchased the operating system off HP back in February 2013. LG previously confirmed that the webOS TV will feature a 2.2GHz processor (a Snapdragon 800 like the one in the LG G2 smartphone, perhaps?) along with 1.5GB of RAM, which should keep the resurrected OS ticking along smoothly. It’s a fair whack more power than the HP TouchPad ever had.

Does the 15 May date shown on-screen hint at a release window? We’ll have to wait until CES, which kicks off next week, to see. In any case, we hope LG’s treated webOS with the respect it deserves – it certainly looks the part in the image.
