Love Lego and proud to be a Singaporean?
That’s pretty much the ethos behind #BuildAmazingSG, Lego’s latest Singaporean-themed competition. The idea is to recreate something you love about the Lion City — whether it’s the Merlion, the MRT or even a plate of nasi lemak — in Lego bricks.
Starting tomorrow, snap a photo of your Singapore-themed Lego creation, upload it to Instagram with the hashtags #BuildAmazingSG and #LEGOSG, make your post public and explain why it’s special to you. If you’re a Lego-whiz, go ahead and submit as many entries as you want by 15 June.
Each entry stands the chance to win a complete set of Lego’s Singapore Limited Edition Food Culture Mini-Builds, and be featured at an exhibition in Plaza Singapura, so get building!
Speaking of the new mini build set, check out Lego’s take on Singaporean food culture. The five mini-builds are instantly recognisable to any Singaporean and include a food cart, the ubiquitous chili crab, nonya kuehs, kaya toast set and a tiny hawker centre table complete with packets of tissue — we all know what those are used for.
Can’t wait to get your hands on them? Each mini build is redeemable when you spend at least S$80 on Lego products in a single receipt. Collect all five and you’ll be entitled to an exclusive Singapore Food Culture ‘base’, to display your love for the city’s eats.
To round up the #BuildAmazingSG campaign, Lego’s also having an event for kids to immerse themselves in a brick world of exciting games and activities. The Lego Cities of Wonders event is modelled on some of the most popular Lego City and Friends sets, and will be happening from 2 - 18 June at Parkway Parade.
