Looks like Asus could be poised to come back in a big way with a new phone: the Asus Zenfone AR.
What makes the phone a big deal? It features not just Tango, Google's take on augmented reality but Google's Daydream as well.
To power both, the phone is said to use the flagship-grade Snapdragon 821, seen on Asus' own ZenFone 3 deluxe and the Google Pixel.
Think a phone that can handle both AR and VR, probably better than Lenovo's Phab 2 Pro which shipped with Tango but has so far received underwhelming reviews.
What's there to expect from the ZenFone AR? Games and DayDream VR versions of YouTube, Google Street View and others.
Qualcomm accidentally outed the phone in a blogpost, saying the ZenFone AR with Snapdragon 821 was "built for VR with high-resolution display, ultra-smooth graphics and high-fidelity sensors for precise head tracking."
Could this be the phone that finally makes VR a thing? We'll see once CES happens and it's likely Asus will finally be bringing this phone out to play.
In the meantime, check out what we thought about Google's Pixel.
