Joby's GorillaPod tripods have a great reputation - deserved, as their ultra flexible and versatile tripods are perfect for photographers of all skill levels.
Now the GorillaPod line has been updated, meaning it's time to see if there's space in your camerabag for another GorillaPod.
Stronger, but just as bendy
What's new? There's a stainless steel ballhead, which supports 90-degree tilts for even more choice of shooting positions. The smartphone tripod will make livestreaming, selfies and even FaceTime more convenient.
Joby is targetting its latest line for not just smartphones, but action cameras, mirrorless and DSLRs. There's still the famous octopus-like legs that allow for wrapping around uneven terrain, giving you a lot more fun options for taking photos.
There are 13 products to look out for. The GorillaPod 325 is designed for devices weighing up to 325g and comes with a magnetic version, if you want it. For bigger devices, there's the GorillaPod 500 for devices 500g or less, the GorillaPod 1K stand and Ballhead 1K for 1kg and under devices, and for the devices weighing 3kg or less as well as 5kg and below, there's the GorillaPod 3K and 5K options respectively, each with matching ballheads. For smartphones there's the GorillaPod Magnetic Mini and the GorillaPod Mobile Mini.
For the 1K, 3K and 5K ballheads, you'll need to purchase them separately. The 3K ballhead has quick release clip as well as a built-in bubble level and the 5K comes with independent pan and tilt adjustments as well as an Arca-Swiss compatible quick-release plate. However, all three ballheads will offer 360-degree panning and 90-degree tilt.
For action cameras, there's the GorillaPod 500 Action with a GoPro-style pin mount for devices weighing up to one pound.
Expect the new tripods to be out by October.
