Calling all Instagram users on Android: Facebook wants you to test the new version of the app as beta testers. Just agree to replace your current app with the beta version and sign over your soul. We're kidding about the last bit, but it really is as easy as joining the Google Group for Instagram testers and you're good to go.
All you need to do to join is even summarised in a graphic: sign up from the Google Group and download the beta from a link on Google Play. Then you're good to go.
Early adopter risks
Instagram does caution you not to share the app without written permission, though it's highly likely the APK file will still make it to the Interwebs anyhow.
The pull of the beta testing app is the chance to help make your favourite app better and, for those into that kind of thing, bragging rights.
Just in case the app isn't working for you, you can still just delete the app and resume using the same old public release app that everyone else is using. But where's the fun in that?
As to why iOS users aren't in on the beta testing goodness, we suspect it has something to do with Apple's own guidelines.
So what are you waiting for, Android Instagrammers? Just join the Google group and follow the steps given.
