This huge brick makes up for lack of MacBook ports

While you'll be spoiled for connectivity, it kind of defeats the purpose of having an ultra-light machine

The latest MacBook is all nice and shiny (read our review to see just how nice and shiny), but if you need to plug in more than one device at one time, its possession of a single port can prove problematic. That’s where OCW’s new dock comes in.

The dock gives the MacBook an additional 11 ports to utilise. In addition to replacing the USB-C port that the dock uses to hook up, it gives you four regular USB 3.0 ports, two of them able to put out enough power to charge tablets. The dock also comes with a gigabit Ethernet port, built-in SD card reader, analog audio port and an HDMI port that supports resolutions up to 4K.

To use the dock you’ll need to have it plugged in to a power source, so it couldn’t be described as portable. The dock is priced at US$129 (£85), and will be available in October in three different colour schemes. It might sound like an expensive, hefty fix for a small MacBook but it does allow you to set up a pretty nice home dock. We’re not sure you would want to carry something that size around the whole day, but if you don’t mind building up your biceps, then good for you.
