Huawei Honor 8 set to debut July 5

Latest Honor flagship looks like a decent upgrade to the Honor 7

The launch date for the Huawei Honor 8 seems to be pretty much confirmed. A new teaser teases both the number 8 and the tagline "Beauty out of the ordinary".

So it seem as though the Honor 8 is going to be a very sleek device, probably a step up over the rather utilitarian look of the last couple of Honor phones. The bevels on the device are said to be very slim, while the phone itself will have a double glass design and a classy metal frame.

Both the Honor 6 and Honor 7 were good midrange devices with attractive price points and the Honor 8 is likely to follow in that trend. For the processor, the Honor 8 will supposedly have a Kirin 955 octa-core, 4GB of RAM, and likely storage variants in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.

Display-wise, it's going to be a fairly compact 5.2in with Full HD resolution. As for the camera, the Honor 8 might have dual 12MP cameras in the rear like its expensive relatives, the Honor V8 and the Huawei P8. The sensor however might differ from the larger models.

Other things to look forward to in the smartphone include the hot port of the moment: the USB Type-C. There will likely be options with NFS as well. Pricing estimates are as follows: 32GB without NFC (RMB1999/$408), 32GB (RMB2199/$448) with NFC, 64GB (RMB2499/$510) and 128GB (RMB2799/$571).

As to when they'll arrive on our shores, give it one or two months, seeing how fast the other new Huawei/Honor models arrived in Malaysia.
