Great news for anyone working in the CBD — WhyQ brings your hawker favourites right to your desk.
While it’s common to have food delivered to the office, your options are pretty much limited to cafes, restaurants and overpriced salad — and there’s only so much $12 salad a person can eat.
If you’re craving for some char kway teow that won’t burn a hole in your pocket (we regularly do), you’ll have to trek down to the hawker centre, spend 20 minutes of your lunch break queuing, and return to the office in a half-melted state.
Enter WhyQ, the food delivery service with a moniker that asks the right question. They take lunch orders specifically from hawker centres and food courts, and do the dirty work of queuing up in the heat so you won’t have to.
There is no minimum order requirement, and delivery charge is an insanely low flat fee of S$1.50 — which is a tiny price to pay for getting something like Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice, without the hassle.
WhyQ currently only operates within CBD hawkers including Lau Pa Sat, Maxwell Food Centre, Chinatown Complex, Golden Shoe Food Centre and Amoy Street Food Centre, utilising a 20-man workforce that operates on foot to keep delivery costs low.
Since launching in October last year, the startup has delivered food from 250 stalls across 7 hawkers, and averages about 300 orders daily.
Feeling mad jelly right now coz you don’t work in the CBD? Fret not, WhyQ plans to expand to other business districts like City Hall, Changi Business Park and one-north in the near future. We’ll keep you posted because we really want this to happen too.
