Now available at Singtel stores for $65, Google's long-awaited streaming sticks finally make their official debut since being launched worldwide in 2013.
Yes, you could've bought them via parallel importers such as Lazada, but many apps and services such as Netflix didn't work due to geo-restrictions, requiring a separate VPN service.
While the Chromecast will still require you to get a VPN in order to access many of these services, the fact that Singtel, a major telco here, is carrying them means official apps for Singapore are very likely to be coming soon. Google have also recently announced an open software development kit for the Chromecast, allowing more content to be integrated with Google's streaming sticks.
