Game conventions are held for the gamers in all of us, giving us an opportunity to get a taste of the games before their release. But GameStart 2014 has something else in mind - lots of special deals for its attendees.
Like a free Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone. You know, the latest Android device that's one of Stuff's 10 best smartphones. Sounds too good to be true? Sort of, but we’re not fibbing. Just make sure you’re one of the first three people to purchase a Sony PlayStation 4 at the gaming convention. On top of that, you’ll also get a three-year PlayStation Plus membership for free.
Okay, so it requires you to buy a ticket (S$8.50 for a single-day pass, S$15 for a two-day pass), enter the convention and grab that PS4. But trust us, it’s worth it.

But really, GameStart isn’t just about the deals. Sure, it’s enticing, but don’t forget you’ll get to try out new PS4 games that won’t be available until 2015. This includes Bloodborne (formerly codenamed Project Beast), The Order 1886, Until Dawn and GearXrd.
Then, there are game tournaments held during the weekend, including a chance to see EVO Champions RZR Xian and MCZ Daigo Umehara duke it out at the Capcom Pro Tour Asia. There can be only one winner who’ll participate in the global Capcom Pro Tour Finals in the US.
Look, there’s just too many things happening at GameStart 2014. Our advice - visit the site, target the sections you’d like to experience. Honestly, we'd like to smack the organisers, because a weekend just isn’t enough to enjoy all the games you don’t get to see till next year.
Please don’t hog the play zones though, give us a chance to try them out.
