Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is arguably next year’s biggest PlayStation 4 exclusive, so naturally, Sony used this weekend’s PlayStation Experience convention to showcase the first gameplay footage from the action-adventure sequel. And expectedly, it looks pretty darn fabulous.

Naughty Dog’s next epic quest puts the PS4 hardware to impressive use with stunningly detailed characters and environments, but we’re also struck by how the worlds feel more open and useful for devising your own strategies. In fact, there’s a particular emphasis here on using climbing in combat and for stealth, which is intriguing. And there’s a big narrative hint at the end, so watch the whole 15 minutes.

Amazon getting into takeaway meals

It increasingly seems like Amazon wants to have its fingers in just about anything, and the company certainly has the money and scale to make it happen. We recently heard that Amazon is readying a curated hotel booking site, and now it seems the site is getting into takeaway and delivery meal ordering.

In fact, Amazon already launched the service in its home base of Seattle, Washington last week, as an extension of its Amazon Local hub, and you can order from local restaurants and charge the meal to the card on your existing account. You can bet that Amazon intends to do more than just help its neighbors check out the local cuisine, and this service may well be a real contender to GrubHub, Seamless, and other similar options before long.

New God of War game in development

One of the bigger bits of news at the PlayStation Experience this weekend was tucked away in one of the panel discussions. And that’s because Cory Barlog, creative director at Sony’s Santa Monica Studio and director of God of War II, said that the studio is working on a new God of War game.

According to IGN, Barlog said it’s not a prequel and that more info will come within “the next year or two,” so it could be some time before first details come along. Last year’s God of War: Ascension was a solid prequel, but less rapturously-received than the core trilogy. Hopefully a new proper sequel on PS4 can reignite enthusiasm in the franchise.

Disney figured out CG eyes

The next frontier in nailing the look of digital humans? Believable eyes, apparently, and Disney’s researchers are attempting to lead the charge on that front. Check out this new research footage, which shows how they’re modeling each individual visible part of the human eye to mimic its real-life reactions with CG characters. How long before we’re seeing this on the big screen?
