Apple's AirPods might get an upgrade next year

Better things are coming to those who've waited

Apple’s AirPods have been flying off the shelves so speedily, they're now sold out in many stores or require a wait. But don't feel bad if you haven't gotten your hands on a pair yet - according to the most accurate Apple seer in the worldversion 2.0 is underway.

According to the analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, the upgraded AirPods will launch in the second half of next year and will likely be produced by the same manufacturer who made the first AirPods, Inventec.

He also predicts the wireless earphones will feature a smaller quartz chip, and that AirPods shipments will grow 100% YoY to 26-28 million units. Other rumours have suggested that the next-gen version will support wireless charging.
