For most us, 7am in the morning is when we try our best to get out bed as we drag our feet to the bathroom.
But for over 200 eager customers, 7am is when they have already queued up at Apple Orchard Road to be the first to own the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus, with some even staying the night before.
The very first to enter the store was 20-year-old exchange student from Thailand, Varis Sinthopruangchai. Mr Sinthopruangchai, who pre-ordered the black versions of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, shared it was a memorable experience being the first to own Apple’s latest phone on the very first day.
But the phone is not for him. He plans to give the phones to his parents back home when he flies off today. However, he is set to return to Apple Orchard in November for the iPhone X.
Also one of the first few to purchase Apple’s latest iPhone was 24-year-old Vietnamese national, Tuan Minh Phan who purchased two iPhone 8 Plus phones for him and his girlfriend.
“I love the iPhone and I definitely had to get it on the first day”, said Mr Tuan who fell in love with the iPhone since the iPhone 3GS.
He had also been travelling to Singapore just to be the first few to own new models since the iPhone 6S launch in 2015.
“Back then I remember queuing up EpiCentre to get the iPhone 6S on the first day. It’s a lot bigger here [Apple Orchard Road] and I’ll return to get the iPhone X in November”, added Mr Tuan.
