The App Store goes Red for World Aids Day

Proceeds from in-app purchases for King games will go to the Global Fund

It's World AIDS Day and Apple is making it easy for you to contribute to the cause.

Donate and have fun

You might have noticed the App Store is all decked out in red - this is to commemorate World AIDS Day and help raise awareness for AIDS funding.

Apple's (RED) endeavour has been a yearly effort that has raised millions of dollars, both from Apple itself and via various promos. This year's App Store promo sees King, the maker behind the popular Candy Crush series, pledging 100 per cent of the proceeds of in-app purchases to the Global Fund. The Global Fund is dedicated to fight not just AIDS but tuberculosis as well as malaria. So pop candies for a good cause, from 1-8 December.

More than 400 Apple stores will also feature a red Apple logo and for every Apple Pay transaction (retail, online, in-app), Apple itself will make a US$1 donation to the Global fund.

Also expect to see special (RED) products coming soon - we'll let you know once the specifics of those are revealed.
