Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem next for Nintendo’s smartphone treatment
Miitomo was just the start, but where's WarioWare?
Smartphones at the ready, Nintendo fans: there are two more big-name games heading to mobiles.
Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem are both getting the smartphone treatment, joining Miitomo in Nintendo’s growing line-up.
Here’s the thing, though: we know next to nothing about either game. Nintendo made the announcement in a tweet, and hasn’t confirmed anything about gameplay, price, or when they’ll land in the iOS and Android app stores.
Causal and carefree Animal Crossing should be perfect for mobile gaming: the console and 3DS versions have you brightening up your home, running errands for your neighbours and keeping up on mortgage repayments, lest angry racoon shopkeeper Tom Nook break your tiny little legs.
Tactical RPG Fire Emblem is a bit more serious, letting you take on cartoon armies in turn-based battles.

Nintendo might not be having much luck shifting Wii U consoles, but its first mobile game is doing gangbusters. Miitomo has about 10 million users, and it’s only been out for a few months.
That’s even more impressive considering there’s not really much game there: you create a Mii character, answer what seem to be pretty basic questions, buy clothes to customise your avatar, and take Miifoto pictures with your smartphone’s camera.
With over 20 million Miifotos already snapped, Nintendo will be hoping to bottle lightning twice more with these two new games.
Without a release date, though, there could be a long wait before either Animal Crossing or Fire Emblem arrive.

I hope the Switch 2 has a bit more of the Wii U and 3DS in it
