It’s definitely a race to the top when it comes to mobile device vendors in their bid to outdo one another and create the most spectacular smartphone (in their eyes at least). And Oppo might be in the running in the perseverance to have one of the “world’s best”.
According to some information retrieved from Chinese regulator, TENAA, Oppo is working hard on its upcoming device, the Oppo U3, fitting it with a 4x zoom lens on a 9mm thick body.
It might protrude a little, but if the company’s really making such a device, it would beat the recently announced Asus Zenfone Zoom in terms of dimensions and zoom range. If you recall, the Asus Zenfone Zoom boasts a 3x optical zoom lens, in addition to a 12mm thick body.
A closer look..
The device looks to sport sharp edges and almost no bezels. It will most likely come in black and white colour options, since both versions have been pictured. The only difference is that the white version showcases a carbon fiber-ish back and the black one with a dotted pattern.
Some of the specifications of the purported Oppo U3 were also leaked. Rumours claim the unit will have a 5.9in 1080p display (resulting in a 373ppi pixel density), an octa-core 1.7GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, as well as 16GB of expandable built-in storage.
Alongside the alleged U3, rumours claim Oppo is also set to soon release a new headset, called the Oppo PM-3. Think it sounds too good to be true? We’ll just have to wait and see if it really is what it’s said to be.
