Is that a stealth bike? Nope – this angular marvel is the Leaos Carbon Urban, an Italian-made e-bike with a gorgeous-looking carbon fibre monocoque frame finished in matte black, gloss black or gloss white. It keeps all the wiring and chain out of sight, for a super sleek profile.
Very pretty, but does it actually perform? The Leaos packs a 36V MPV motor that delivers up to 50Nm of torque, for 10 levels of pedal assist, plus NuVinci Harmony automatic transmission. If you've got a motorbike license and insurance, you can pick up a full-speed version that's classed as a moped and will motor along at 45kph. If not, you'll have to be content with pootling along at 24kph on the speed-limited version. Both models pack disc brakes to bring you to a halt in a hurry.
What about charging time? The Carbon Urban packs a removable 11.6 Ah battery from BMZ, with a claimed fast charging time of 2.5 hours – that'll take you 109 km on the speed-limited bike, or 90 miles on the high-speed version.
Any extras? You get 26in Schwalbe balloon tires for a smooth ride, plus Supernova LED lights integrated into the frame, and a Selle San Marco leather saddle to cushion your posterior. The handlebars sport a digital display, too – and that’s just the standard kit.
Optional extras include carbon fibre mudguards and rack, a smartphone holder and an anti-theft GPS device. Which you’ll probably want, as it’s rather a pricey piece of kit.
How pricey are we talking here? You'll need to save your pennies; the Carbon City Design starts at €4980 (S$8660), before you start hitting up the options list.
