SingTel wants to be part of the celebrations on Singapore’s 49th birthday, but we think you’re going to walk away with the sweeter end of the deal.
The telco has declared National Day (9 August) free unlimited data day this year, but only for its postpaid mobile customers. So you can go wild and surf the Internet, stream content, as well as upload and download videos, pictures, apps or even selfies as much as you want.
“We hope this will help bring our customers closer to their friends and family. Sharing special moments in photos or videos of their favourite National Day activities will be made possible with SingTel’s network,” SingTel CEO consumer Singapore, Yuen Kuan Moon, said.
Many, many offers
If that was the case, maybe Moon should be suggesting a data cut that day so people put down their devices and spend time with their friends and family #justsaying. But hey, it won’t cost you a single cent to WhatsApp your National Day greetings on that day so there's really no cause to complain even if everyone's hogging the network.
To keep its customers further glued to technology, SingTel will be making available selected movies and ethnic channels – such as Star Chinese Movies HD, Sony Max, and Fox Movies Premium HD – free for SingTel mio customers.
It’s also going to offer customers 49 per cent off (because it’s Singapore’s 49th birthday, get it?) selected video-on-demand movies. These deals will run from 8 to 10 August.
The telco will also be offering a range of other deals (see above) as part of the National Day 2014 promotions; go ahead and choose your poison.
