That little voice in your head? It’s the gamers, geeks and cosplay enthusiasts in you, reminding you to keep 25 and 26 October free for GameStart 2014.
Trust us, you’ll want to attend this gaming convention. Started by gamers for gamers, it's been built on all kinds of awesome and here’s why you should show up.
The big titles are surely exciting, but there are interesting hidden gems that you might not know of. Expect indie games such as Rocketbirds 2 and One Upon Light featured at the Sony booth too.
Oh, one more thing - deals. There’s a trade-in booth where you can trade in your old console for S$100 to fund a shiny new PS4 sold at GameStart. And... wait for it... you might get a free Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone.
Other cool gaming fun
We’re just showing you the tip of the iceberg. If you have l33t driving skills, join the Driveclub competition in which you could totally score a ride in a proper super car at the convention. Meet FIFA eSports personality Mohamed Phirkhan as he conducts a workshop and unranked tournament for new and upcoming FIFA players.
And to top all of that, Versus City will be setting up classic consoles at ‘Retro DNA’, which will feature the Nintendo Famicom, Sega Dreamcast, PS1 and the Atari 2600. Expect titles from the golden age of gaming like Super Contra, Mega Bomberman, Alien VS Predator and many more classics. For the adults who still have that kid in them, don't hog the machines, let the real kids experience some good old gaming.
Meet gaming and cosplay celebrities
Bear witness to an epic battle at the Capcom Pro Tour Asia Finals. Watch pro-gamers from China, South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore go head-to-head in Ultra Street Fighter IV players at the Capcom Pro Tour Asia Finals. You can also challenge Daigo "The Beast" Umehara to a game for a chance to win a PS4. Excuse us while we brush up on those combo moves now.
Gaming convetions and cosplaying are like Batman and Robin - they are never apart. So this is the best opportunity to gaze upon cosplaying personalities such as Yasemin Arslan, Yuegene Fay and Tessie. Cosplayers are also invited to participate in Game On! and take centre stage in their best cosplay from any game title. The loot? Cold hard cash and awesome gaming peripherals from Razer.
Loot, Lots of Loot
Speaking of loot, you can also score a ‘Random Loot Bag’ which could hold anything (or everything if you’re lucky) from games to limited edition t-shirts and a ton of other exclusive items. You can also land big prizes like consoles, games and gaming accessories at the daily lucky draw.
Got all that? Good, then we'll see you on the weekend of 25 and 26 October.
