Surprise, surprise, this spectacular solar eclipse shot was caught off the cuff

Not every perfect moment needs a ton of planning to nail

We at Stuff happen to know Andrew Lum, the photographer of this shot, quite well. He happens to own DSTLLRY, the bar and restaurant that’s in the same building as Stuff HQ. Enough said.

As a Leica ambassador, he is no stranger to the art of photography, but we weren’t expecting this. For one, solar eclipses are incredibly difficult to do justice to in photos, unless you happen to be shooting planetary bodies on the regular as a NASA employee.

And another being that these solar eclipses don't come by every day. Thus, if you miss the moment, don't expect the moon to come circling around to give you another shot at a, well, shot.
