My little man was pretty psyched when I told him Stuff lent him the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 8 (not that he’s started reading gadget magazines yet). He’s been lugging an iPad around for about 3 years now, and I was curious to see how he would react to a new device.
First thing he said was, “Wow! It’s beautiful!” and I couldn’t agree more. The Lenovo Yoga Tablet 8 has a very elegant and sturdy built, using both polycarbonate and aluminum. It’s very slim at 213 x 144 x (3.0-7.3)mm and weighs a mere 401g, it’s just the perfect size even for little hands to carry.
Unlike most tablets, the Lenovo Yoga Tablet does not have a flat back. It has a cylindrical bottom which houses its kickass battery (2 Cell 6000mAH Li-Polymer, if you prefer the fancier term) with an 18-hour lifespan and also serves as a handle for better grip.
But what I think is truly unique is the kickstand at the back of the device which allows for multiple Yogi positions: Hold, Tilt, and Stand. Hold mode, for comfortable browsing and gaming. Tilt mode is great for typing as you would on a keyboard. Change to Stand mode, for the perfect viewing angle for watching videos and movies, and Skype chat. I think Lenovo had the user’s comfort primarily in mind with this one.
This tablet has a 5MP rear and 1.6MP front camera. Not DSLR quality, but then a tablet wasn’t made to replace cameras anyway. It does let you enjoy clear video chats.
