How to take the best envy-inducing snapshots of a Grand Hyatt staycation

Why vacay when you can staycay and make your friends jealous anyway?

When you have no time to steal away for a vacation, the next best thing would be a staycation.

Grand Hyatt Singapore hosted us in their Grand Suites and we had a great time making everyone we knew envious of the fact that we were having a glorious staycation. In fact, no one even realised the fact that we were still in Singapore.

Scroll down for some serious staycation envy.

Frame

Nothing like casually dropping that you're staying in a lux room. We checked into our Grand Suite King on the 20th floor reception reserved specially for Club guests. Remember to frame your photo just so, so that if anyone accuses you of showing off, you can just say that you really just wanted to share the pot of orchids.

Throne room

Aside from giving an overview of the room, make sure to highlight the most amazing parts of it. Which in this case is this humongous bathroom that'd put entire apartments to shame. It even comes with couple sinks, so you don't have to fight over mirror space in the morning.

Sweet dreams are made of this

But the pièce de résistance in every hotel room has to be the bed, of course. And in this case it's a king-sized thing of wonder. We'd never get any work, or life, done if we had this in our home.

Taking a shot of the bed alone wouldn't have done justice to the grandeur of opening up the room doors and looking in at the bedroom for the first time. The wow factor is more evident by framing the shot with the door frame.

Spec-tech-cular

Being the geeks that we are, we obviously couldn't miss out on featuring some of the cool tech features in the room like this super stylish Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay A8 that you can park your iPhone on top of.

Of course, aside from showcasing the super sleek stereo, make sure you insert yourself into the photo subtly.

While not the most hi-tech of features in the room, we were thoroughly impressed by the idea of a power outlet within a safe built into a drawer. For a business traveller, this is godsent given that you can keep your laptop under lock and key and still have it fully charged by the time you get back.

In the club

Lucky us got access to the Club Lounge which means we get snacks and drinks served throughout the day. We were even allowed to take the coffee back to our room. Not that we needed to because there's also a Nespresso machine in room...

BBQ by the pool

While the Grand Hyatt is home to a couple of the most famous restaurants in Singapore - Mezza9 and StraitsKitchen, we went with Oasis, the poolside restaurant as it was a nice balmy evening. Besides, the idea of an ala-carte BBQ buffet and free flow of beer, wine, and magaritas definitely didn't hurt either.

Please try not to drool all over your keyboard.

Eat, relax, sleep, repeat

What's there to do after an epic dinner? Hang out in your plush room. Nothing like posting a photo of your feet up with a game of footy on the television to make your friends jealous.

The morning after

What's the best thing about a staycation? One word - breakfast. We had a spread up in the Club Lounge. While our friends were on their way to work or already seated at their office desks, we were enjoying a lazy breakfast.

We find it most effective in filling up a table with all our dishes then shooting the entire spread from the top, if you can fit it all in. Cue likes and jealous comments.

A splashing good time

Since there was still time before we had to check out of our dream life, we made the most out of the sunny weather and hit the pool. The cabanas flanking the pool make for great photo spots and even better lounging areas should you be able to snag one.

We did. And one of the hotel staff, a very nice Mr O, stopped by for a chat and sent over a round of drinks. Great service made for a memorable stay overall.

Who says you need to escape Singapore to have a vacation? Not if you check in at Grand Hyatt Singapore.
